Biography

Diego Cannizzaro got with praise the Diploma in Organ and Organ Composition at the Conservatorio of Perugia, the Diploma in Piano at the Conservatorio of Palermo, the Graduation in Lettere Moderne at the University of Palermo and the PhD in History and Analysis of Musical Culture at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. He is specialized in organ and harpsichord at Accademia di Musica Italiana per Organo of Pistoia, at Norddeutche Orgelakademie of Bunde (Hamburg) and at the University of Santiago de Compostela. Active as an organ player, a pianist and an harpsichordist, he was invited in many musical events in all Europe and USA. He leads the Liturgical Music Department of Istituto Universitario Tisia, he teaches Organ and Ancient Keyboards at Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “V. Bellini” of Caltanissetta and he is Honorary Supervisor for the historic organs of Sicily. Other conservatories in Italy and abroad invite him as a teacher. He recorded for La Bottega Discantica, Bongiovanni and Tactus, being principally concerned with ancient music of South Italy and with Italian organ music of the late nineteenth century. For Elegia he recorded L’Office Divin by Filippo Carocci (1840-1911) and the Vol. 1 of the full organ collection by Pietro Alessandro Yon.
